SRINAGAR

Srinagar is the is summer capital of the Jammu & Kashmir. It is situated in the Kashmir valley and lies on the banks of the Jhelum River. Also Srinagar has many Lakes which are Wullar Lake, Dal Lake and Anchar Lake. Srinagar is surrounded by Himalaya Mountains. The word Srinagar literally means 'The city of wealth'. Srinagar is popularly known as 'Paradise of Earth'. Kashmir Known for its pristine valleys, floating markets on the shimmering Dal Lake, Mughal styled Gardens, holy temples, House boats and an array of adventure options. The temperatures during winters are mostly below freezing point with it witnessing snowfall as well. Dal Lake as a major landmark and a top tourist attraction which is located in the heart of the city. The dry fruits and traditional Kashmir handicrafts are also quite popular in Srinagar.


SIGHTSEEING PLACES IN SRINAGAR

DAL LAKE

The Dal Lake spread over a straggling 26 sq.km is the most popular tourist attraction in Srinagar. Renowned for its house boats and Shikara boat rides, set against the slow clad glorious Himalayas. It is divided by causeways into four parts having three Islands,Rupa lank popularly known as Char Chinari, deriving its name from four chinars on it, the Sona Lank or Golden Island and Nehru park. It is also a hub for many water sports including water surfing, swimming, Shikara rides, kayaking, houseboat stays, angling and canoeing.

SHIKARA RIDE

Shikara Ride across the scenic Dal Lake at the backdrop of the majestic slow clad Himalaya's is indeed an experience in itself both enjoyable and unforgettable. Shikara rides can be taken in one of the circuits from Nehru Park, Nagin Lake, Rainawari and back. The interesting part of Shikara rides in Srinagar is the floating gardens.

SHALIMAR BAGH GARDEN

Shalimar Garden Constructed by the great Mughal Emperor Jahangir in 1619 for his beloved wife Nurjahan, the sprawling garden with four terraces, imposing fountains, well laid out manicured gardens and tall trees. Shalimar Garden located 15 km from the city the easiest way to reach the gardens is by taking a Shikara ride from Dal Lake. Nishat Bagh and Dal Lake are some adjoining attractions to Shalimar Bagh.

NISHAT BAGH GARDEN

The Nishat Bagh located on the eastern side of the Dal Lake, is a marvelous garden designed by Asaf Khan, Nur Jahan's brother. Laid out in 1633, it is among the largest of the Mughal Gardens. The gardens beauty is enhanced by well-manicured gardens, long avenues of chinar & cypress trees, rare flowering plants, 12 terraces & several bubbling fountains makes for an impressive garden. The easiest way to reach the gardens is by taking a Shikara ride from Dal Lake. Shalimar Bagh and Char Chinar are some adjoining attractions to Nishat Bagh.

CHASHME SHAHI GARDEN

Founded in 1632, the smallest of the Mughal Gardens, the Chashme Shahi Garden is also known as the 'Royal Spring'. Located near the Nehru memorial park, easily reachable by road, the garden is established in three sections with an aqueduct with fountains and waterfalls located along the middle. The garden provides splendid views of verdant greens, majestic mountain ranges and views of the Dal Lake. Pari Mahal and Char Chinar are few nearby attractions that are worth visiting.


GULMARG

Gulmarg literally means Meadow of Flowers. Gulmarg located 52 km from Srinagar in the district of Baramula of Jammu & Kashmir, at an altitude of 2730 m. Nestled with stunning peaks in the Himalayan ranges, Gulmarg is a spectacular picnic spot attracted by all kinds of tourists with its lush green backdrop, beautiful landscapes, flowering gardens, serene lakes and pleasant climate during the summer and falls. Gulmarg was discovered in the 16th century by Sultan Yusuf Shah, who was inspired by the sight of its grassy slopes emblazoned with wild flowers. Today Gulmarg is not merely a mountain resort of exceptional beauty- it also has the highest green golf course in the world, at an altitude of 2,650 m, and is the country's premier ski resort in the winter. Gulmarg is also the Asia's only heli-skiing resort. The wonderful attraction in Gulmarg is the cable car Ride, which is also known as Gondola Cable car ride.

Gulmarg attracts various tourists due to its natural beauty. Lush greenery, snow capped mountains, fragrant meadows and host of adventure activities are some of the facets that characterize Gulmarg. The snow-clad peaks and the lovely landscapes of Gulmarg have provided background for several Bollywood ventures. There are immense beauty and adventure activities that make Gulmarg much more than a cool hill resort. It is a convenient base for treks to the Himalayas and also offers various winter sports facilities to the tourists. For adventure seekers, trekking, horse riding, skiing and golfing are some of the best options .Skiing and snowboarding are two main activities that can be enjoyed in Gulmarg. The winter months from November to February are ideal for skiing. The months from May to September are pleasant to visit the place. Khilanmarg, Alpather Lake, Wular Lake and Manasbal Lake are main tourist attraction in Gulmarg.

GONDOLA CABLE CAR RIDE

The wonderful attraction in Gulmarg is the Cable Car ride, 1 km west of Gulmarg bus stand. The ride is divided into two sections – Gulmarg to Kongdori and Kongdori to Apherwat. The Gondola passes over the pine forests, starting from a height of 2690 m above sea level and rise up to 3090 m while reaching Kongdoor. The majestic view of the lush green hilly terrains and the panoramic views of the picturesque surroundings offer the greatest experience for a tourist while enjoying the cable car ride. The ride also passes by the scenic spot of Khilanmarg - a meadow with a carpet of colorful flowers.


PAHALGAM

Pahalgam literally means 'The valley of shepherds'. Pahalgam located 52 km from Srinagar in the Ananthnag district of Jammu & Kashmir, at an altitude of 2730 m. from sea level. Pahalgam spread along the banks of the Lidder River. Its natural splendor is described by snow clad mountain peaks on all sides, a white water river that traverses the bottoms of the narrow valley, and a weather that makes the summers a charm. It offers wonderful treks, skiing, mountaineering and camping sites. It forms a part of the region in Asia where Saffron is growing. The valley offers adventurous activities such as golf, horse riding, trekking and many water sports. Pahalgam is also the starting point (Chandanwari-15 km from Pahalgam) of the Amarnath Yatra. From Chandanwari, pilgrims need to continue their Yatra on foot or pony, which will take at least 2 days to reach the cave and back. Betaab Valley, Lidder Lake, Lidder River, Aru Valley and Kolohoi Glacier are main tourist attraction in Pahalgam. Pahalgam is famous for Kashmir handmade "gabbas" and exquisitely designed wooden toys.


SIGHTSEEING PLACES IN PAHALGAM

AVANTIPUR RUINS

Located enroute Pahalgam, around 25 km from Srinagar is the temple ruins of Avantipur. The site is an archeological and historical delight for history buffs. The site comprises of two temples dating back to 9th century, standing just a kilometer apart. King Awantivarman, who ruled Kashmir during 9th century, built both the temples – Shiva Temple and Avanti swami Temple. The Shiva Temple is renovated and in daily use, while Avantiswami Temple, which was dedicated to Lord Vishnu is now a ruin. Both the temples reflect Greek style of architecture. The British excavated the temples in 18th century taking away some of the idols to England while quite a few are on display at Sri Pratap Singh Museum in Srinagar.

SAFFRON FIELDS

Saffron fields, located in Pampore, around 12 km from Srinagar draw a huge number of visitors during late October to early November. From earlier times, saffron from these fields has graced feasts of Emperors and commoner alike. It is believed that Mughals used to celebrate Diwali at Saffron fields. Watching these magnificent saffron fields in moonlight has been a local tradition. Travel Srinagar during Saffron festival, which is held every year in October and witness the intricate harvesting of saffron in the vibrant fields offering captivating view during the moonlit nights.

SRINAGAR-GULMARG-PAHALGAM (5D/4N)

DAY 2: After Breakfast drive to Gulmarg. Gulmarg located 52 km from Srinagar in the district of Baramula of J & K, at an altitude of 2730 m. Nestled with stunning peaks in the Himalayan ranges, Gulmarg is a spectacular picnic spot attracted by all kinds of tourists with its lush green backdrop, beautiful landscapes, Snowy Mountains, flowering gardens, serene lakes and pleasant climate during the summer and falls. Enjoy a pony ride and Gondola cable Car Ride. Evening back to Srinagar. Overnight stay at Srinagar.

DAY 3: After Breakfast drive to Pahalgam. Pahalgam located 52 km from Srinagar in the Ananthnag district of J&K, at an altitude of 2730 m. from sea level. Pahalgam spread along the banks of the Lidder River. Its natural splendor is described by snow clad mountain peaks on all sides, a white water river that traverses the bottoms of the narrow valley, and a weather that makes the summers a charm. Enjoy the nature beauty of Pahalgam. Pahalgam is the most famous place for film Industry. Enroute visit Saffron fields and Avantipur Ruins. Evening back to Srinagar. Overnight stay at Srinagar.

DAY 4: After breakfast sightseeing of Srinagar. Enjoy the nature beauty of Srinagar, Visit Shalimar, Garden, Nishat Bagh Garden and Chasheme Shahi Garden. Afternoon is free to explore the Charm & nature beauty of Srinagar and Shopping. Overnight stay at Srinagar.

DAY 5: After Breakfast Transfer to Srinagar Airport/Bus Terminal. Tour End.
